Action

I am a director of TV commercials and other film stuff, represented by Hungry Films in Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa. I love action and storytelling and the creation of characters. I love background details. I love color palettes. I love realness and I love a bit of fantasy. Luckily for me I have been given the opportunity to dabble in a little bit of everything and I love my job.

I love the film industry because of the humans it attracts. All of them odd and interesting with a slightly skew perspective on the world. People who studied to become something normal but found that they didn’t fit in and so drifted into film as a solution. It is one of the few industries that you can still get into with no training whatsoever and if you have passion, a willingness to work hard (really really hard), and enough humility to learn from the experienced people around you, then there are no limits to what you can achieve. I started working in the film industry in 2003 as a creative researcher – an excellent training ground for an aspiring director. I did this for almost seven years before I went loco from the long hours all on my own in a dark room (you have to work like a slave) and joined a smaller company for a stint doing online content. Whilst working here I shot, directed and edited all the video content and also wrote a ton of web copy. But I missed the film industry and remained determined to end up as a director. So I kept on trying and creating and making movies until someone noticed me and I got my big break.

I began my career as a director in 2010. Now I can’t imagine ever doing anything else.
